New Chickens!

Meet Tiny Tim ( if it turns
out to be a hen she will
be Tiny Tina :) and
Lucky - they were
hatched as the usual
elemntary school project
(in a Chicago school -
Oak Terrace In
Highwood) but Lucky
had a huge abcess and
Tiny Tim- well you can
see he has a majorly
splayed leg. The farmer
refused to take them
(they would have just
been -well- disposed of
anyway) so a teacher
called dozens of
rescues till she found
critter Camp - and we
agreed to take in the
pair. Tiny Tim goes to
the vet on Tuesday!
They will live here for
their entire NATURAL
lives :)

Goodbye to a dear friend

Our very precious Flash the fennec fox crossed to the rainbow bridge yesterday after a bout with liver cancer. He was a ripe old 12-15 years and had a very good life here at Critter Camp. he will be missed more than we can express. He was my absolute favorite animal here too.

Yes that is how our USDA inspector reacted when he saw our renovated rabbit & guinea pig enclosures!! He repeated "Phenomenal" many times during the inspection - in the newly organized main areas, at Shadow's kennel, everywhere! Yay!!!!
It is nice to be assured that we are providing optimal care for the rescued critters here at Critter Camp!

To the Bridge goes Yin

We say a sad farewell to one of the very best bunnies ever to reside at Critter Camp - Yin the netherland dwarf. Several years ago he was left at a local humane society in a box with his brother Yang, they asked us to come get them and they have lived here charming all visitors ever since. Yang misses his sweet brother too.

Critter Camp's "Rainbow Bridge" Page is Dedicated to members of the Critter Camp family that have "gone to the rainbow bridge."
"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...."

This cute little girl is available for adoption! She was a Christmas present, but they soon realized bunnies are way more work than they thought, and sadly they were not up to the task. So she found her way to Critter Camp. She is about 4-5 months old and very sweet.

See our Adoptions page for more information:
